Leeds City Schools is offering our very first, free, parenting classes this fall. Thanks to a grant, the school district has purchased two different curriculums offered through The Parent Project organization. The Parent Project has been around nearly 35 years and has worked with over 1.5 million parents raising difficult or out-of-control children.
So what does this mean for Leeds? Here's more information about "The Leeds Parent Project".
Who?
- These classes are for any family that calls Leeds City Schools home.
- The classes will be led by Mary Beth Lochridge (FACE Coordinator), Rachel Harper (Mental Health Coordinator), and Evan Kavli (LES School Resource Officer)
What?
We are offering 2 classes: Loving Solutions & The Parent Project. Both classes are activity-based programs that allow parents to learn and practice behavior management techniques at home.
- Loving Solutions is a parent training program designed specifically for parents raising difficult young children, ages 5-10 years Some people refer to this class as "The Parent Project, Jr.", because the two classes are based on the same principles... Loving Solutions is just tailored for younger ages.
- The Parent Project is a parent training program designed for the adolescent years. The class addresses the critical issues parents face today and offers concrete, step-by-step solutions, not theory.
When?
- Tuesday nights
- 10 weeks
- 6-8 pm
- Dates: September 17, September 24, October 1, October 8, OFF FOR FALL BREAK & HOMECOMING WEEK, October 29, November 5, November 12, November 19, OFF FOR THANKSGIVING, December 3, December 10.
Where?
- Leeds Primary School
- Loving Solutions will be in the lunchroom
- The Parent Project will be in the library
