LCS purchases 7 translator devices
A device that can fit in the palm of your hand, with a huge impact.
Leeds City Schools has 2 English Language teachers, Brittany Hallmark and Melanie Jackson, and they know the need for translation in their roles. They work with our EL students and families every day. Mrs. Hallmark and Mrs. Jackson heard of a new device on the market called "Pocket Talk", and both agreed the devices would be beneficial in our schools. So what did they do? They made it happen for the EL students and families in Leeds City Schools. The devices are a tool the LCS Faculty & Staff can use to communicate with families so that every parent feels heard, supported, and included in their child's education.
Pocket Talk is a small device that instantly translates both speech and text. The device can translate in over 80 languages. The user simply holds down a button, speaks into the device, and within seconds the message is translated into whatever language you choose. Another cool feature of the device is that the user can take a picture of a document, flyer, etc. and the device will translate the image into another language.
Leeds City Schools has purchased 7 Pocket Talk devices. There is a device in each school office, the central office, and both Mrs. Hallmark and Mrs. Jackson have a device.
