2nd grade students kick off their Citizenship Journey with a visit from Libby Liberty
Leeds Elementary School was full of patriotism today thanks to the Liberty Learning Foundation. With tiny American flags in their hands and green crowns on their heads, the 2nd graders have officially started their Citizenship journey!
The Super Citizen Program kicked off with a visit from Libby Liberty. The students learned a bit about The Statue of Liberty, sang some songs about the USA, and learned about the program they will be part of this school year. The students will be learning all about civics, character, financial literacy and our Great American Story. They’ll also begin the process of nominating and honoring “Helping Hands Heroes” who they will honor at their graduation celebration later this school year.
Today’s event and the Super Citizen Program are free to schools because of generous community sponsors who understand that these crucial lessons must be taught despite school time and budget constraints. Thank you to our sponsors with the Jefferson County Community Alliance!
