LCS School Board approves bid from Blalock for stadium project
And the project rolls on!
This morning, members of the Leeds City School Board approved the bid from Blalock Building Company to complete the Homer Smiles Stadium Project. There were 6 bids for the project. Blalock was the lowest bid.
The project is just over $8 million dollars and will provide major renovations to the athletic facility. One of the largest chunks of the budget is to build a new 6,000-foot multipurpose facility in the end zone closest to the baseball field. The facility will house new restrooms, a new concession stand, coaches' offices, locker rooms, and meeting spaces. There will also be a plaza area for fans to enjoy around the facility. There will be turf in that area as well. The project includes a structure that will house a 26 x 47 Jumbo-tron. The Jumbo-tron itself is not included in the project's budget. There will also be a new ticket box at the stadium.
The plan is to break ground once the 2024 football season is behind us! Roll Greenwave!
