Over 150 students gathered at LMS for First Priority
A little birdie told me I needed to check out First Priority at Leeds Middle School, and boy am I glad I did! This morning, I witnessed over 150 students gather before school to worship together. What's really cool is that the students led the entire thing! The students sang a worship song, heard a message from a classmate, heard the verse of the month, and prayed together before heading to class.
After First Priority, I spoke with Brett Bosworth from Cedar Grove Baptist to learn more about First Priority at LMS. He said LMS has been averaging 170 students in attendance each week. The group has gotten so big, this year they had to move to the LMS Band room. There are several leaders from local churches that come together each week for First Priority - Cedar Grove Baptist, Leeds First Baptist Church, and Leeds Valley Church.
Brett also told me about a really cool thing happening this week at the Leeds vs Moody game. The Leeds First Priority and Moody First Priority are collaborating together tomorrow night. There will be a First Priority Tent set up in the stadium where both First Priority groups will be handing out red wristbands and books for the students. The slogan for the event is "It's not about BLUE or GREEN, it's all about the RED". The slogan is based on Matthew 18:20, which is all about coming together. But the collaboration doesn't end at the game - First Priority is also having "5th Quarter" after the football game at Bethel Baptist Church.
