2 more LCS teachers gain National Board Certification
Congratulations are in order for two Leeds City Schools teachers! Peyton Black and Lance Higdon are officially National Board Certified Teachers, the most respected professional certificate available in education.
The National Board Certification process is quite an undertaking, but there are numerous benefits for teachers, students and schools. The program was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.
At Leeds, we offer teachers who are interested in pursuing NBCT the chance to apply for the Leeds City Schools NBCT cohort. The cohort is designed to help teachers walk through and pay for the process. Each candidate in the cohort is also given a CSP, "Candidate Support Provider", to help the candidate walk through the process.
This year, 3 of our NBCT teachers also maintained their certificates. Dr. Burke Wren, Josh Argo, and Jessica Rose. NBCT teachers have to go through a process to stay certified every five years.
