The Leeds City School System is dedicated to providing the latest and best suited hardware and software to create the best possible education experience for students and staff. We provide a 10 gigabit fiber optic wide area network system which allows data communication between schools and access to the internet. We also have upgraded in the summer of 2019 to 10 gigabit local area networks with the latest 802.11ax wireless within the schools to enable all system personnel and students to benefit from all the tools and resources technology has to offer. We have virtualized all of our servers and now run triple redundancy to preserve important data. Most recently we transitioned to Google apps for education and the entire Google suite.
While it is important that we provide the latest technology, it is paramount that we are also in compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA). CIPA is a federal law enacted by Congress in December 2000 to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet on school and library computers. It is with the safety of our children in mind that we have implemented a multi level filtering system with GoGuardian and Lightspeed Relay to block inappropriate or harmful content that may be accessed while on the internet.
