• VISUAL ARTS COURSES OFFERED

     

    Art I

     

    This course gives the student an overall view of art. Art history is used as a background on several projects so that the student will have knowledge of artists and periods of art. The following topics are covered: drawing, color, mixing, design elements, and a variety of media.

     

    *This in an introductory course. No prior experience is needed to take Art 1.

     

    Art II

     

    This second level of art focuses on increasing skills in all areas of artistic expression. Students will have projects that are more in depth and focus on broader concepts. Drawing topics include: various shading techniques, working in a variety of media, pencil, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, and figure drawing, as well as painting techniques in watercolors, pastels, and mixed media. Students will have access to a wider range of materials.

     

    Art III/IV

     

    The third level of art encourages independence, greater creativity and originality through more advanced projects in drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture. Students are encouraged to excel in areas of artistic interests and may begin working on requirements of a college portfolio with proposals presented and approved by the instructor.
