Ms. Melissa Kirkpatrick

Hello everyone, my name is Melissa Kirkpatrick and I am the Visual Arts teacher here at Leeds High school. I have lived in Alabama since 2000. I received my B.A. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2012 for Studio Art with a concentration in sculpture. I went back to UAB to earn my Master’s Degree in Art Education and graduated in 2014. While at UAB I served as president of the University’s Art Club. I also was a member of the National Education Association Student Chapter, Golden Key Honor Society and Kappa Gamma Delta Education Honor Society.

I enjoy working with all types of art media. I love working on projects both at school and at home. In my spare time I enjoy riding bikes, completing puzzles and creating new works of art. I also love animals! I have one dog that keeps me busy when I am not at school. I believe every child should have the opportunity to express themselves visually and the art classroom is a great place to make that happen. I look forward to seeing you in my class.
